Ilkari and Huawei announce sovereign data centre solution for LATAM at Andicom 2024
Ilkari’s new Colombian data centre has a DCOS (Data Centre Operations Standard) Maturity Level of 3 and features Huawei’s FusionModule2000 solution which prioritises sustainability and reliability.
Ilkari, the first truly sovereign technology company, today announced a new sovereign solution for the Latin American market at Andicom 2024, September 4-6, 2024. The solution, which features Huawei’s FusionModule2000, optimises customer performance as the workload increases. Huawei’s solution provides significant advantages during both the construction and operational phases, primarily through the use of AI. Ilkari’s suite of sovereignty solutions is designed to empower businesses to have complete control over their data.
With data centre power expected to surge six-fold in ten years by 2034, computing power comes at an environmental cost. Studies warn that the AI industry alone could consume as much energy as a country the size of the Netherlands by 2027.
Ilkari’s modern data centre, located in Bogatá’s Free Trade Zone in Tocancipá, is the first in Colombia, with the latest ANSI/TIA-942-C Rated-3 certification. The facility also has the prestigious DCOS-3 Maturity Level 3 in the Data Centre Operations Standards. Ilkari’s DCOS-3 maturity level classification guarantees the facility operates with total control over all processes and procedures written and implemented with KPIs for control. It’s the first data centre in Colombia with Maturity Level 3.
“Our industry-standard certifications, some of the first in Colombia, enable us to use the latest technologies required for the new AI applications such as immersion cooling, edge data centres, energy storage batteries and sustainability recommendations,” said Bob Wright, Chief Data Centre Officer, Ilkarii. “Ilkari partnered with Huawei to prioritise sustainability and reliability. By using Huawei’s FusionModule2000 in our data centre, we can offer the most advanced technologies and cost advantages to customers amid the exponential growth of data fueled by AI and blockchain transactions and guarantee the highest levels of service.”
Huawei’s FusionModule 2000 is designed for indoor data centre scenarios. It features a simple design and high building adaptability and meets the data centre deployment requirements of several sectors, including enterprise, finance, governments, and carriers.
The FusionModule2000 is smart and green and offers hot and cold airflow isolation, improving energy efficiency by 30%. It is a modular design that is a highly integrated solution comprising a power supply, cooling, rack and structure, cabling, and management system within the module. It features power, visualisation of the power supply chain, fault auto-locating, and auto shutdown for proactive protection with 24/ 7 uninterrupted protection.
“Ilkari’s recently opened data centre in the Bogotá Free Trade Zone in Tocancipá, Colombia, is the cornerstone of our strategy to provide data sovereignty for our customers,” said Rafael Alarcon Colmenares, Facility & Data Center Business Developer Director, Colombia & Ecuador Digital Power Business at Huawei. “It is key to have a modular, sustainable future-proof data centre that will adapt to the challenges of AI.”
Additionally, Ilkari has deployed Huawei’s UPS5000 modular UPS systems to ensure reliable power. They offer a 100kW hot-swap design with continuous intelligent monitoring. The design’s redundancy guarantees availability and the system supports easy operations and maintenance.
With advanced temperature and humidity controls, the facility has up to 800 square meters of net technical space with the capacity to expand to 1,300 square meters. Its power usage effectiveness (PUE) design is less than 1.4. The current utility power capacity is 3.6 MW, with the option to increase to 6MW, and the IT site load is 615 kW and up to 4.0MW in the future. Each generator (N+1) can provide continuous power to the data halls at full design load for 48 hours of fuel storage. Ilkari’s privately owned and operated data centre gives customers 24/7/365 manned security and seven levels of access control, which gives customers the tools they need to achieve true data sovereignty.
Visitors to the Ilkari stand, 13.9, will be able to see the Huawei FusionModel2000 and how Ilkari’s colocation and sovereign cloud can provide companies with the tools to control their digital infrastructure as the pace of change accelerates.
