The Caribbean’s sovereign cloud movement is accelerating
Across the Caribbean region, governments and industry leaders are putting sovereignty at the heart of their digital strategies. Recent conversations across the Digital Caribbean ecosystem highlighted the same priorities: stronger regional interconnectivity and secure, sovereign data hosting. The direction is clear. The region is building for control, resilience and long-term independence.
In June, researchers disclosed one of the largest credential leaks ever recorded, with billions of passwords tied to major platforms appearing online. The scale of the exposure underscores a simple reality. When data is spread across global systems, the potential risk increases. Regional, security-first infrastructure helps limit that exposure.
As new members of the Caribbean Datacenter Association, we recognise this momentum and the direction it signals for the region. Sovereign infrastructure is not just an aspiration. It is becoming the foundation of the Caribbean’s digital future and setting a benchmark for what regional control should look like worldwide.
We are proud to support that direction and to be part of the community shaping a more resilient and sovereign digital landscape.
